Hi.

Welcome to our blog. We created this blog to bring awareness to homeless animals. Thanks for stopping by.

It was the best of times...it was the worst of times...

It was the best of times...it was the worst of times...

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times….

Sandy had been in and out of the Houston ASPCA so many times the staff couldn’t remember when she actually had first arrived BUT they could remember some of the times she returned.

It was the best of times… Sandy was first taken home by a lovely, lonely old lady.  She was showered with love and attention.  This was a match made in heaven.  Only a month into this loving relationship the little old lady passed away.  Her son didn’t want a dog to have to take care of so he kicked Sandy out to the street.  It was the worst of times… Sandy was picked up by animal control and returned to the shelter.

It was the best of times… Next Sandy was adopted by a man who was looking for a “companion” while he was at work.  Only minutes after they arrived at his junk yard Sandy was put to work guarding the property.  This was a hard life.  She was forced to live outside all day and night, fed rarely, and when she didn’t live up to the guard dog duties he would stomp on her paws.  It was the worst of times… Luckily a kind customer rescued her and took her back to the shelter.

It was the best of times… Sandy was adopted by a family.  By this time Sandy had developed some separation issues.  She would get so nervous when left alone that she would destroy belongings like toys, furniture, or clothes.  It was the worst of times… The family had no patience for this behavior, so Sandy was returned to the shelter.

It was the best of times…. The employees at the Houston ASPCA were feeling that Sandy would never find a loving home, until one day when a young couple came in and asked to see her.  They fell in love with the little black and brown bundle of love.  They took her home and changed her name to Kanyon.  She eventually got over her separation anxiety, after getting her head stuck in a Mt. Dew box, destroying the apartment a couple of times and eating the decorations off of the Christmas tree.  Eventually, Kanyon lived an amazing life full of adventures with this patient couple.  It was the BEST of times.
